What Is Love?

What Is Love?

Bullying. Violence. Anger. Why is it so hard to love one another? What would our world look like if we could just be kind to one another?

Jesus tells us, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ – Matthew 22:37-39. For those who know Jesus, this command is easy, most the time. But for those who do not know Jesus, they will never know what love is. They search a lifetime for love, but never find it. And until those who understand love, this command will never happen.

1 John 4: 7-9  is the answer. Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

God. Jesus. Love. The answer starts with Him.

Lord, Please Change My Circumstances!

Lord, Please Change My Circumstances!

There was a time when I thought that everything that happened to me was to teach me some spiritual lesson. What happened, though, was more than teaching; it was the building of character, a growing of faith. I prayed, “Lord, change the circumstances.” In actuality, He wanted to change my character. God doesn’t always take us out of situations. Remember, Paul was in prison, was shipwrecked, and was regularly in trouble. But through our situations, He molds our character into more Christ-like attitudes and He builds our faith. God is aiming at a higher purpose than I am able to understand.

In the end, I have to trust, not in myself, but I have to trust in the faithfulness of God. He is God and His promises are true. It is not for me to question or rationalize my circumstance. I can have faith that all things work together for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. God doesn’t say that all the things that happen to me are good, but He says that they will work together for good.

So when you feel that the Lord has let you down or has put you in a tough place, He is doing great things through your life and molding you to higher calling. We often don’t see what God is doing in our lives until years later. So let go of your disappointments or circumstances today and be patient. Wait on the ONE who is going to do great things through your life in His timing and in His ways. He is the One that knows you best and loves you most. And He has a plan for your life. What do you think it will be?

Whatever You Do

Facing Disappointments

Facing Disappointments

You’ve worked hard. You’ve done what you’ve been called to do. You expect big things. And then it doesn’t happen. Disappointment creeps into your life and brings you down. What happened? Why do we feel like we have it all under control?

God tells us in Isaiah 55:8, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD.

I am so thankful that His ways and His thoughts are different from mine even though I strive to be like Him on a daily basis. My life would be an utter mess if I truly believed I had it all under control. I don’t. My way and thoughts are often self-seeking even when I think what I’ve been called to do. God’s ways are awesome, mighty and powerful. His thoughts are about His will, His children, His Kingdom.

When you feel that the Lord has let you down, He is doing great things through your life. Often we don’t see what God is doing in our lives until years later.  It only takes one person to change the course of history. Let go of your disappointments today and be patient. Wait on the ONE who is going to do great things through your life in His timing and in His ways. Are you the one?

Worry vs. Praise

Worry vs. Praise

I wonder how much time we waste spending on worrying? We worry about our family. We worry about our jobs. We worry about everything! Jesus reminds us to stop worrying. But what will take its place? Praise and thankfulness. Join me today and give praise and thanks daily to the ONE that knows you best and loves you most.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:25-34

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Day#1 I’m thankful that you love me.
