Today, Lord, I turned unknown visitors away. My heart pounded as I abruptly closed my front door. I knew who they were—people who claim to know You, but they misinterpret Your Word. As I stood behind the closed door, my heart rate increased. I knew my actions were wrong. I heard Your Spirit speak to my heart, Go after them and share truth. I opened my door and obeyed!

Holy Father, if only they could see the full, completed picture of Your infinite plan of salvation found only in Your Son, Jesus Christ. I think of Matthew and how he referred to the Old Testament at least 130 times, meticulously showing how the events of Christ’s birth, ministry, death, and resurrection fulfilled each one of the prophecies made about my Savior from Scripture long ago. Using Jesus’s own words and miracles as further evidence, he demonstrated how Your kingdom, brought through Your Son, had a radically different look and purpose than the Jews had ever supposed. You had brought an even better deliverance, one that would extend to include anyone who “knocked” or sought refuge in Your Son. Best of all, Jesus would return to earth as the triumphant King and Savior of Your people, ready to judge and end evil while opening the door to eternal life with You. Your truth tells me,

Everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened (Matthew 7:8 ESV).

Your invitation to truth still remains, and many still haven’t heard, or they misconstrue Your Word. I’m in awe that Your Spirit indwells me and gives me Your words to speak boldly so that I can carry the gospel of Christ to the ends of the earth, starting outside my front door.
