I praise You in the stillness of the night as I sit humbly at Your feet. I wait patiently to hear Your loving voice, to feel the power of Your healing, for my body is weak and aches with pain. Oh, I seek the healing touch that comes only from You. All the way back in Deuteronomy, You made it clear that You are the God who heals. Your truth tells me,
I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand (32:39 NIV).
I think about the woman reaching for You in the midst of the crowd and her determination to touch You. She was unclean and forbidden to worship in the temple, and anyone she touched would become unclean, including You, Jesus. Desperate for healing, she knew that by merely touching Your garment, she would be healed. Her faith was unshakable:
A woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her hemorrhage stopped. And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had gone out of Me.” When the woman saw that she had not escaped notice, she came trembling and fell down before Him, and declared in the presence of all the people the reason why she had touched Him, and how she had been immediately healed. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace” (Luke 8:43–48 NASB).
You calm my spirit, Jesus, as I reach out to touch the fringe of Your cloak, for You know my impurities and the need for healing. It’s only touching You that changes my uncleanliness to complete healing. My faith is in You, Lord. You are Jehovah-Rapha—my God who heals.
